MOT test or service: which appointment do you need?
An MOT and a service answer different questions. Use this guide to describe what you need before asking Westfield Garage about an appointment.
Contact Westfield Garage to confirm current availability and arrangements.

Start with the purpose
An MOT is a prescribed inspection of road-safety and environmental items. A service follows a maintenance schedule and an agreed scope of work. Neither label tells you that every possible fault has been investigated. If the vehicle has a particular symptom, mention that separately rather than expecting a routine appointment to diagnose it automatically. Ask whether you need an inspection, scheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis, or a combination.
Bring dates and evidence
Have your registration, approximate mileage, MOT expiry date and last service record available. Describe what the previous invoice actually lists: “oil and filter changed in March” is more useful than “fully serviced recently”. If the service history is incomplete, say so. Do not guess that a component was replaced because the car looks well maintained. A garage can discuss a suitable next step once it knows what records exist.

Agree the work before leaving the car
Ask which checks, parts and consumables the quote includes, whether diagnosis is charged separately, and how additional work will be authorised. State a reliable contact number and ask what happens if the team cannot reach you. An MOT booking does not authorise an unlimited repair bill, and a quoted service should have a clear description. Confirm whether the requested work is available at Westfield; this article is not a live service or price list.
A useful booking message
Try: “My MOT expires on [date], the mileage is approximately [number], and the last documented service was [date/work]. I also noticed [symptom]. Which appointment should I request, what is included, and when could you assess it?” GOV.UK explains that the MOT does not cover the condition of the engine, clutch or gearbox. A current certificate is not a substitute for addressing a new problem. Use the contact page to discuss your actual vehicle before travelling.

Frequently asked questions
Does a service replace an MOT?
No. They have different purposes. Check the required MOT date and agree the scope of any maintenance separately.
Should I mention a new fault when booking?
Yes. Explain it separately so the garage can discuss whether diagnostic time is needed.
