Tyre checks: what to note before asking a garage
A short, safe observation can help you explain a tyre concern. It does not replace a proper tyre inspection.
Contact Westfield Garage to confirm current availability and arrangements.

Observe from a safe position
Park safely and look for an obviously damaged tyre, an unusually low appearance or uneven-looking wear. Do not crawl underneath a vehicle, remove a wheel, or put yourself near moving traffic to gather a photograph. If the situation is unsafe, prioritise appropriate roadside help over collecting evidence. Tell the garage if the tyre lost pressure suddenly or the vehicle behaves differently.
Use the vehicle-specific information
Pressure requirements depend on the vehicle and loading; use the handbook or the manufacturer’s information on the vehicle. Do not copy another driver’s pressure simply because their tyres look similar. GOV.UK states that car tyre tread must be at least 1.6mm across the central three-quarters and around the entire circumference. Visible cuts, defects and other concerns also matter; a single tread reading cannot clear every aspect of a tyre.

Describe the pattern, not a guessed cause
Useful details include which corner is affected, whether a warning appeared, how long the concern has been present, and any recent impact or tyre work. Say “the front-left tyre appears lower after being parked” rather than “the valve is definitely faulty”. A photograph may help organise the conversation, but it cannot prove the tyre’s internal condition or establish that driving is safe.
Ask for a practical next step
Contact Westfield to ask whether a suitable assessment is available and what you should do before bringing the vehicle. Confirm any charge, booking requirement and replacement options before authorising work. If tyres are recommended, ask for the specification and full fitted price in writing. This page does not certify a tyre or give permission to drive: responsibility for roadworthiness continues between MOT tests.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I find the appropriate tyre pressure?
Use the vehicle manufacturer’s information for the actual vehicle and loading conditions. Do not use a guessed figure from a general article.
Does a tread measurement answer every tyre concern?
No. Damage, condition and pressure can raise separate questions. Ask a competent professional about an uncertain tyre.
